If week 1 is anything to go by then I think the next 6 weeks are going to be alright! There’s always that summer holiday fear of – can I plan enough ‘fun things’ to keep everyone happy and without bursting the bank?
We’ve ended up being super lucky, both H & I have 7 week summer holidays this year! Our school used 2 inset days to close on the 15th and H’s school is being totally re-wired so closed early too. Pretty lucky right?
The beginning of the summer holidays came with a lot of sadness for me. After 6 years I made the decision to move schools. It wasn’t an easy choice but travelling for 90 minutes a day wasn’t making much sense anymore. So, from September I’ll be working a mile away from home. Leaving Wellgate was tough, it feels more like working with my family these days and I was overwhelmed with the outpouring of love from the children and my colleagues.
Holly had a double sleepover with one of her BFF’s, which was tons of fun! The girls managed to destroy Holly’s room in super cute style. I had two Rapunzel’s running around the house, jumping on beds and hiding money under pillows that was apparently from the tooth fairy!
We visited Crafty Kids in Huddersfield one afternoon and had a brilliant time with Holly’s cousin Jack. The idea of someone else allowing children to glue, stick, roll, paint and craft in their space and not having to pick playdoh out of my own carpet afterwards is amazing. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re local to the ‘Hudd’.
We’ve visited the Peace Gardens in Sheffield to catch up with my Uni pals. Alton Towers is a summer holiday must – I came home feeling like my brain had been shaken to a mush after riding ‘The Smiler’. Maybe I’m not as young as I thought I was!?
We’ve been to the beach twice, BBQ’d once and started making plans for birthday parties and camping trips.
Week One – we love you! Have a look for yourself!
